Tuesday Night Art Class Series

3 & 4 week series, 1 night or monthly options available.

Local artist Fotini Christophillis will be teaching our Tuesday Night Art Class Series in January, February, March & April.

Each month will have a different focus.

Tuesday evenings, 7-10pm

January 9, 16, 23, 30: 4 weeks

Class: Art Techniques & Fundamental Concepts

January’s Art Class series will introduce fundamental concepts of drawing and painting to develop technical skills that serve as a foundation for creative exploration. Principles and techniques of composition and design, color theory, mixing and color relationship, and brushwork and mark-making will be introduced in a synthesis of both drawing and painting. The class will include a brief discussion of the concepts and techniques within art history and a contemporary context with specific examples introduced. Students will be encouraged to explore within a structured environment and apply the concepts and techniques to develop a personal style and point of view.

February 6, 13, 20, 27: 4 weeks

Class: Watercolor

Description: This course will be an introduction to watercolor painting by working from direct observation, exploring the abstract by understanding principles of design and composition, and representing the landscape in a personal way using photographic source materials. Students will be encouraged to explore while understanding the basics of technique and process.

March 6, 13, 20, 27: 4 weeks

Class: Observational Painting

Description: This course will explore the fundamental principles of painting, composition, color, brushwork, and design principles and through direct observation students will gain a fundamental understanding that can help them execute creative ideas with more precision and intentional focus. Art historical and contemporary references will be introduced and students will be encouraged to consider an individual point of view within this context through an independent project.
